Richard Hallows

Senior Interface Developer

I've over twelve years' experience building interfaces for leading design agencies, product teams and charities.

I'm passionate about user experience, and putting the user's needs first by using agile methods.

I've been a freelancer for ten years. I've worked on award-winning (Cannes CyberLions, FWA's Site of the Month and D&AD Yellow Pencils) contracts for clients including Google Creative Lab and GEOX at Stinkdigital.

Prior to this, I was the Interface Lead at Tonic. I made creative websites for established brands, including London Fashion Week, Rankin and Sony.

I specialised in CSS architecture, design systems and responsive web design four years ago. I apply these skills to a range of front-end technology stacks, including React and Angular.

Recently, I co-authored stylelint—a modern and open source CSS linter. Written in JavaScript for Node.js. It is used by companies worldwide, including GitHub and Facebook.

Recommendations

Richard did great work for us in pulling apart our spaghetti front-end codebase and giving us the tools to put it back together in a clear and maintainable way. He gave us our Design System, which we still use, and which forms the backbone of our site structure. Highly recommended.
